Before deciding to commit to a therapy, we can organise a free, 20-minute telephone consultation. The purpose of this call will be to establish what you would like to get from therapy and is to assist you with understanding whether I am the right therapist for you. This is completely optional, and you are under no obligation to move forward with therapy if you decide not to.

Your first session will be an assessment of your needs; we will look at what has brought you to therapy, why now, what you would like to achieve and any barriers you would like to overcome and any goals you would like to work towards.

Each session lasts for 50-minute session and takes place ideally at the same time each week. Therapy tends to work best when it is regular and consistent and as such, weekly sessions are advisable to begin with to enable us to build momentum and to develop our therapeutic alliance. The duration of your therapy be it psychotherapy or counselling, will be guided by your needs and I offer both short term and long-term options.

This is a guideline and I aim to work around the needs of the client and if weekly sessions are not suitable for you we can look at alternative options.

Maintenance/Holding sessions, or flexible monthly 'check-in' sessions are available should you require them. These sessions are generally used to support you in making the transition out of therapy and we continue to work together until a time where you feel ready to take all of your experiences and learning and apply them for yourself, by yourself – a little like removing the stabilisers from a training bike.
